Etsy Betsy!

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, but I’m back! And I’ve been BUSY!

July was an amazing month for Brighton Etsy sellers. We took part in the Etsy Global Craft Party on 20th June, where the lovely ladies at Super+Super kindly granted the #btnetsy team with the wish to take over their window display and turn it in to Camp Etsy! We skill swapped (I learnt how to knit again, thanks to the lovely B Millinery and Toby of I like CATS) and started work on the window props.

Cheska, the queen of Mooshpie curated the window display and worked very hard with help from Toby of I like CATS, the hello DODO crew and Karli of Designosaur. The party on 20th kicked off the start of the creation, but the Brighton Etsy team continued crafty until 1st July, when it went up. Bets & Bobs got involved too and made some badges, clouds, tents and a little campfire to help set the scene.

The window reveal marked the start of Etsy’s Mentor Month too. Local designer makers teamed up to share Etsy insights and work towards creating an a bunch of even lovelier shops! I set up my Bets & Bobs Etsy shop just in time to join the craft party, so I was VERY happy to be part of mentor month.

The mentor programme gave me the opportunity to work with the very talented Kirstin Stride and I learnt a lot about running a successful shop. She was a great mentor and later won “most knowledgable mentor” at the end of month party. Whoop whoop! I also had the pleasure of working with Claudia Made This, as she kindly took me on as her mentor 🙂 she’s done an amazing job updating her shop with new photography and she enjoyed mentor month so much she’s been inspired to launch another shop for her illustrations. Watch this space!

We finished off an amazing month with an Etsy mentor party, again held at Super+Super (Amy & Claire are really are good to us). Elizabeth from Ean jewellery and Karli from Designosaur worked really hard all month to make sure the mentor programme was a success and their efforts didn’t stop at the celebrations! A whole host of mentors and mentees won well earned awards. Here’s me with my mentor and mentee. Both winners!
